BEFORE AND AFTER: GARAGE RENOVATION

our garage was literally falling apart-the door (original to the house) was starting to rot and much of the structure needed reinforcement. since we had to get it redone, i started getting excited! i wanted to make it pretty! i wanted a garage that my kids and their friends could hang out in....i wanted to cover up the ugly (water heater / furnace)....i wanted to lighten it up-it was depressingly dark...i wanted it to feel less claustrophobic (felt like the ceiling was caving in on me!)...i wanted it to look more finished and feel more like a room, but still function as a garage. here's the before....

and the after!!!!!!

my super nice friend donated their ping pong table that they never used-SCORE! now we have a place for the kids to go!!! thx C!

the ceiling was super low before....so, we took away half of the attic space so we could vault the ceiling and add sky lights-and WOW...what a massive difference this made!

LUCY WILLIAMS INTERIORS

this door used to be a window....but we swapped it out for a door for easy access to the backyard.....hmmmmm...a patio (and maybe outdoor kitchen?) sure would look nice out there!

now when i open the door, i no longer have YUCK to look at!

and guess whats behind door #1 & 2?

the water heater and furnace! and some extra storage space!

this custom door was a splurge.... but its SUPER heavy and solid-excellent for insulation and helped the curb appeal.

wondering where all of our garage junk went? well, most of it was stuff we didn't need anyway....and the rest went into a new shed!

BEFORE AND AFTER: CAMBRIDGE SUNROOM

I WAS THRILLED WHEN MY CLIENTS MOVED INTO ONE OF MY FAVORITE HOUSES IN NORFOLK!! AND I COULD NOT WAIT TO GET GOING ON THE SUNROOM. WE HAD A CLEAN SLATE...HERE'S THE BEFORE...

OUR CHALLENGE? THIS ROOM IS LONG AND SKINNY AND THE RADIATOR AGAINST THE WALL INFRINGED ON OUR ROOM DEPTH.THE SOLUTION?  IM THINKING LOTS OF UPHOLSTERY WILL OPEN UP THE SPACE. SOMETIMES SMALLER QUIRKY AREAS NEED BIG FURNITURE!  A NICE LONG SECTIONAL AGAINST THE RADIATOR WORKS PERFECTLY! TWO SWIVEL CHAIRS HELP WIDEN THE ROOM AND PROVIDE EXTRA SEATING FOR TV WATCHING. WE ALSO ADDED TWO SMALL ROUND OTTOMANS FOR COLOR, FUNCTION AND BALANCE....FINALLY, A LARGE SCALE COFFEE TABLE TRICKS YOU INTO THINKING THE ROOM IS BIGGER THAN IT REALLY IS! HERE'S THE PLAN:

AND THE AFTER!

WE HAD A GAP BETWEEN THE SOFA AND THE WINDOWS / DOOR AND WE NEEDED IT FOR THE SAKE OF TRAFFIC....BUT WE NEEDED DECENT SIZED FILLER AND MORE LIGHT....SO WHY NOT AN ENORMOUS FLOOR LAMP?!?!? (THE SHADE IS 25"D!) ITS MY FAVORITE PIECE IN THE ROOM-AND GREAT FOCAL POINT FROM THE LIVING ROOM!!!
